Is it Time Yet?

After we had Lily, I was so anxious to potty train Audrey. We did it about a month after Lily was born which felt like forever. But I think it was too close, Audrey got really stressed and it ended up taking a lot longer than expected. I just hate having to buy diapers for more than one kid. Anyway, fast forward a few years and here we are again. I vowed I'd wait until Sydney is 6 months old, but seriously, Lily is SO ready. I'm not ready yet, but I'm not sure if I want to wait for 6 months. I'm getting really tired of our little Houdini always finding a way out of her diaper! So, tell me - how soon after a new baby have you potty trained? Any words of wisdom?

Oh I can't wait to see what people say! I'm in the same situation with Andrew! He's getting pretty close to ready but I'm scared he'll regress when the babies come. But I trained Maddi when Andrew was 3 months old and it was awful. It's a hard one! I don't want 3 kids in diapers!

My boys have both been potty trained before the next baby got here. I wasn't going to do two kids in diapers at one time. But Finn took longer than Ian. Ian was done by 20 months and Finny was about 26 months when we weren't having accidents any more. Potty training is the worst!! But at least you have girls so you don't have to worry about the whole aiming thing. Good Luck!!

We started potty training Abby when Kaden was only about a month old. I REALLY didn't want to but Ryan did and she seemed like she was ready so we plunged in. I was also afraid that if we waited, then our window of excitement would wear off and she wouldn't want to try anymore. I guess if Lily seems ready why not give it a try. If all else fails you can stop and try it again later. But, like you, I hated to have two kids in diapers. That alone pushed me to train Abby sooner than later. Good luck.

I know nothing about it. My only job was with the boys, but we only had two of those, and that was so long ago that I can't remember that far back. I say - go for it. I can't believe how cute your girls are! What a joy they must be to you. I'm glad we found you (or was it the other way around?)

If she's ready, I'd say go for it. We waited till a few months after Corbin was born for Jovi even though she was showing signs of readyness a month or so before he was born. I was worried about her reverting so I put it off and it worked for us. If Lily is acting ready I'd totally try though.

Just buy diapers until Lily does it herself! I always wait until my kids are bigger and they don't have accidents and it is no big deal! Lily seams super little to me but that is only because my kids tend to wait until they are 2 1/2 to 3 because I don't do any work to help them. I also found that I would much rather change diapers than accidents in panties.

Different strokes for different strokes. You really have to decide what is best for you. Your the Mom who has to deal with the diapers or running a 18 month old to the toilet because she can't get on the big potty by herself. Or stopping to go potty every time you are at a store. Sometimes diapers really are no big deal.
